LIC WATERFRONT
I get it; you want to show the epic landscape of the LIC waterfront. The empire state building, the Chrysler Building, and all the glittering windows in-between. I am more than happy to capture these shots for you, but sometimes there are hidden gems on the waterfront that you may not even consider. Here are a few things that a photographer will consider when picking a location:
LIGHT
The most important thing that you will hear every photographer talking about is LIGHT! Photography is light, and an image is only captured through light sensitivity on a sensor within the camera. If the light is terrible, i.e., very bright and contrasty, your photographer will reposition you quickly. This could mean turning away from a skyline.
TOOLS
When deciding how to frame a shot, a photographer is always thinking about their lens. What my camera sees is not what you see. Trust that your photographer knows what their camera sees. We could be looking at a much larger picture than you realize, or on the contrary, we might be honing in on the details.
DURATION
The length of a session is a huge factor when selecting a location. If it's a mini session and you only have 20 minutes, the photographer will pick a versatile spot with good light. Twenty minutes in an "epic" location with horrible light is not fun for anyone.
This session is now one of my favorite lifestyle sessions on the LIC waterfront. This family was open to multiple locations, and as you can see, not all of them included the city skyline. I'm so grateful for their positive vibes and willingness to explore. It allowed me to move through multiple spots on the waterfront, and in the end, they received a lot of variation in their final images. I LOVE the library shots = ) Also, their wardrobe for this session was 100% on point.
