As a photographer, I'm all about capturing those real, unfiltered moments – the giggles, the snuggles, and everything in between. I know it takes some guts to invite a stranger into your home and let your guard down, but between the posed shots, when you forget that I exist, those are the shots I love the most.
If you're considering tying the knot in New York City and want a wedding that embraces intimacy, candid moments, and modern aesthetics, without the high price tag, a courthouse wedding could be the perfect way to celebrate.
If you have worked with me for your newborn session, I highly recommend adding a milestone package to your year. Many families want holiday card photos and family sessions that capture the 6 month or one year milestone. Bundling your sessions means a discounted rate and early access to my shoot calendar.
In this blog post, we explore the sentimental value of investing in family photography, even when one partner is hesitant due to financial reasons. We discuss the benefits of booking a mini session or an in-home family session and how it can lead to authentic and joyful photos. By investing in memories, families can cherish the beauty of their everyday life and create lifelong memories that they will treasure for years to come.

WHEN AND WHY?
I'm often asked when is the best time to schedule a newborn session, so here are my answers to the why and when.
SLOW THE FLOW
As a family photographer, it's my job to observe. I don't just walk into a space and assess the best light. I also need to evaluate the best moods. There's a lot of micro decision-making within the first 10 minutes of walking into a completely new space, and I've noticed that the work I'm most proud of is work that I created in a relaxed setting.
MAKE IT A FILM
You may notice that I LOVE candid shots if you have seen my work. I strive to take photos full of emotion: genuine laughs or tears, and I choose raw images over fake smiles any day of the week. That said, a photograph is one moment in time frozen for all eternity. It leaves a lot to the imagination. You can see how someone looks, but what about their personality? What about that cute little giggle we can't see? This is where the film steps in.
KEEPING MEMORIES
I often think of the role photographs, and videos play in creating memories. If you know me personally, you know that my husband edits together my iPhone videos into shot birthday movies for the kids every year. My daughter often recalls events from her 2nd year of life, and I'm sure that it's because she's watched them several times. Memories that we didn't capture and replay seem to be locked away in a vault somewhere in our minds. Hopefully not gone forever.
LIC WATERFRONT
I get it; you want to show the epic landscape of the LIC waterfront. The empire state building, the Chrysler Building, and all the glittering windows in-between. I am more than happy to capture these shots for you, but sometimes there are hidden gems on the waterfront that you may not even consider.
THE LIFESTYLE SESSION
In a season where mini sessions run rampant, I am so glad to have families that choose a lifestyle session. Don't get me wrong, I believe in the mini for many reasons, and I offer holiday mini's, which I will discuss in a future post, but here are a few reasons to consider the big sister to the mini.
WORTH THE EFFORT
A big part of why I do what I do is because I have a tendency to look back on my life with a sense of romanticism or look towards the future with high hopes. Photography for me is a conscious effort to live in the moment and see the beauty in the now.
Mama Minis
I wanted to shoot these mini sessions at an indoor studio because frankly the idea of photographing several families back to back in an outdoor location where I have no control over the weather or the actual setting is my living nightmare. I wanted to have complete control over my environment so that when the shooting began all I had to focus on was the people in front of my camera.
Full Circle
Naturally when I found out about her engagement, I was ecstatic. I was also a little bit sad. Marie was getting married to a man I had never met. Anyway, I finally met him and I can’t tell you how perfect they are together. I am so proud of her for finding her match, but this isn’t really about him (sorry bebe).
Local Love
My favorite kind of session is an In-Home Family/Newborn session in my very own neighborhood. I get to stay local and I also get to offer a lot of flexibility to my Families. Plus, I’ve been living in the Neighborhood for almost six years and have no desire to leave, so getting to meet everyone else that calls this place home is a win-win.
Nostalgia
Nothing makes me miss home more than the Christmas season. Although New York is a buzzing hive of seasonal activities and distractions, It never leaves me feeling fulfilled on Christmas Day. That’s because Christmas is for Family. For laughter and arguments. Hugs that last a little bit too long and temperatures in the high 80’s. See! I’ve been living here too long, I’m using Fahrenheit.
Giving Thanks
I have been quite fortunate to work with some fantastic Families. People that have chosen to work with me because they know and appreciate my work. They have let me into their homes and allowed me to capture and connect with them on an intimate level.
Greenpoint Memories
It’s such a bittersweet moment when a new client reaches out to you for a final shoot in NYC. With New York being such a temporary place to live, this happens pretty often. On the one hand, I live for the opportunity to roam a neighborhood with a Client and document moments that they will look back on forever. On the other hand, it is frustrating when you connect with a Family and know you likely won’t see them again.
Early Birds
One of my favorite things in the whole wide world is a Client that is willing to shoot before 8 am. Especially in New York City! What can I say, I like to avoid crowds and harsh light.
I have never worked on an engagement session before, but when a friend from my homeland reached out and placed all her trust in me, I jumped at the opportunity! I couldn't have asked for a better shoot with these two wonderful people. I wish them an abundance of love and good fortune.
