Moving On

A big part of why I do what I do is because I have a tendency to look back on my life with a sense of romanticism or look towards the future with high hopes. Photography for me is a conscious effort to live in the moment and see the beauty in the now.

2020 changed the landscape of my neighborhood. Many families that were already bursting at the seams of their tiny city apartments were forced to quarantine in these small spaces for what felt like forever. When the quarantine was lifted peopled had to quickly decide if to stay or go. Could they really weather another quarantine in this space? I lost a lot of neighborhood friends to this process.

I’m beyond grateful that I was able to capture the final days of this family in their apartment. We spent some time on their rooftop patio and just focused on all the beauty. Nobody knows what the future holds but at least they will always have these photos to look back on.
