Heat Wave

I love these long summer days, but when the temperatures rise into the 90's, staying inside sounds a lot more fun.

Fortunately, this fantastic family lived in the most beautiful light filled apartment, and with lots of space to play, I was able to capture the moments worth remembering. A snapshot of life as it was on this scorching day.

Pretty in Pink

The more time I spend photographing Newborns, the more I fall in love with the process. I admire Mothers that take the time to arrange a Newborn Photoshoot. With all the new adjustments that come along with becoming a little Family unit, I'm always in awe of the women that are capable of pulling things together long enough to capture it all on Camera. Thank you to all the moms that have trusted me and given me access to their most personal moments. I cherish every opportunity.

Spring is In

There can be a lot of anxiety around the idea of a Family photoshoot. People are naturally concerned that their children will not behave or that the session will be too long to keep the kids engaged.

Farewell

At the risk of being too transparent, I want to talk about shoot prep. I have a lot of Photographer friends out there, so if you are reading this, please weigh in. In the age of social media, I find myself using Facebook a lot. If you write me an email to book a session and I don't know who you are, the first thing I will do is look you up on Facebook. I know that sounds a little creepy and stalkerish, but it's the truth.

Collaboration

We met in Chinatown at 6 am when it was still dark and -7 degrees C. In my rush to get out of the house without waking my sleeping Toddler I decided to forgo my search for gloves. A decision I immediately regretted. Thankfully they dropped out of my camera bag halfway through the shoot and the feeling in my fingers and sharpness of imagery quickly improved. I love this shoot and welcome any opportunity to collaborate with my fellow artists!

Augustine in Astoria

When this new mom expressed her desire to shoot both indoor and outdoor for her Newborn session, I was so excited! Getting people outside during the winter months can be challenging. Especially with a two-week-old baby. Fortunately, the weekend promised some mild temperatures and Astoria's Welling Court Mural Project looked like the perfect place to wash the Winter Grey away.

Family of Nine

When I was contacted to photograph this Family of nine, I became aware that they don't all get to be together as often as they'd like and they just wanted to capture their closeness. I can't tell you how this resonated with me.

Williamsburg Wanderings

Shooting outdoors in the winter can be quite challenging, but with long shadows and warm highlights, the light can be quite spectacular. This was my first winter shoot of the season, and it was scheduled the day after our first snowfall. I was so excited! Thankfully this family of three was incredible at rolling with the punches.

The Wessners

GREENPOINT! I can't tell you how much I enjoy Greenpoint. It's a stone's throw from my neighborhood, and although I've visited Greenpoint several times, it always feels new to me. I think I can safely say it's my favorite Brooklyn neighborhood. There's so much character that everywhere you look there's something worth photographing. Deciding where to shoot can be a little bit overwhelming, so this is how I break it down.

Pumpkin Patch Kid

Sometimes it takes a two-hour train and bus commute to get to a small patch of pumpkins. This time it was worth it! I was so lucky to spend a few hours with this fantastic family at the Queens County Farm. If you haven't taken the trip with your little one, you should consider it.
